Here I am in Corte Madera, Ca (Marin County) demonstrating the CORRECT way of removing a screen.....FROM THE CORNERS. (Using a thin-bladed tool like a putty knife is very handy).
Screen frame is very thin and will bend if you try to work it out from the center of the frame.
Also, if it has been a long time since the screens been removed, it is a good "jiggle" the screens while they are in the opening. For the homeowner this is most easily done from the inside of the house. Push up and sideways at all corners first. This breaks the crusty seal of dust that accumulates between the screen frame and the window. Once the screens can move around a bit you will have an easier time of lifting them out.

Phifer UltraVue Screen Mesh - Santa Rosa CA
In Santa Rosa California today. The window screen on the right has just been replaced with the new UltraVue window screen mesh from Phifer. The window screen on the left still has conventional screen mesh.
The left photo is a little darker. However, photos don't do it justice. This is something that has to be seen. I would be happy to demonstrate it for you.
